Nueske Meats in Wittenburg, Wisconsin have been smoking gourmet meat treats since 1882. What started as a home operation with family recipes brought over from Europe turned into a small business in 1933 and today Nueske meats, especially the applewood smoked bacon, are the top choice for chefs all over America.

Since the business started in 1933 there have been a few changes. The plant now has state of the art equipment and ships expertly packed coolers full of sausage, poultry, ham and that infamously fabulous bacon from coast to coast. While the shipping and equipment are modern, the recipes are traditional, and so are the family values. Despite their great successes, Nueske Meats is still family owned and operated.

If you are looking for a food gift, you can’t go wrong with any Nueske item. The smoked hams and turkeys make beautiful centerpieces for holiday meals, and are simple to serve and prepare. The bacon is second to none, and is available in gift baskets with other breakfast treats for a scrumptious Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gift. The all time favorite and top selling Nueske gift is the Nueske Party Basket that includes cheese, summer sausage and crackers, everything you need for a party.

Bacon Tips:

  • Try cooking your bacon in the oven. It tastes just as good with less mess and you can set a timer and forget it. You can find instructions for oven bacon here.
  • For extra crispy bacon, let the bacon cool on a rack with paper towels underneath, instead of directly on the paper towels.
  • Bacon tastes great in sweet dishes too. Try adding cooked, chopped bacon to chocolate chip cookie dough before baking.
